Inflation had moderated from its peak, but consumer prices remained close to or above the central bank’s 2% target, and household debt constrained the space for rapid easing. South Korea’s growth model adds another layer. Exports, particularly semiconductors, automobiles, and ships, transmit global demand into domestic earnings. A recovery in artificial intelligence investment can lift chip shipments before household consumption or construction improves. So can an external technology rally transmitted through global funds.

The index can rise while the domestic economy continues to struggle with aging demographics, weak potential growth, and fragile household balance sheets.
